Ever wanted to live in a tea estate bungalow? Jungle Tide is available for hire as a whole bungalow on a staffed basis. Whole house hires are for a minimum of one week as Jungle Tide is our home and we would need to leave and find somewhere else to stay – which we are happy to do if the hire is for a week or more.
Rates shown below are for self-catering groups. They include cleaning and servicing as described under ‘staffing’. If you want our staff to prepare meals for you this can be done for an extra charge – see prices below.
For rates including Kingfisher Camping Barn and/or Mulberry Cottage please enquire. For extended bookings of the whole house (two weeks or more) please enquire for special rates.
The maximum number of people the house can accommodate is 10. We have two separate buildings which can also be hired for an additional charge. The Kingfisher Camping Barn holds 4 people and Mulberry Cottage another 4 These numbers include two people in the main house using folding beds; if everyone is in a ‘proper’ bed the maximum number these three bedrooms can hold is 8.
The three ensuite bedrooms in the house are a family room, a double room and a twin room. An extra folding bed can be put into the double and twin rooms, and we also have a cot available. See the photos and descriptions below.
The ensuite Kingfisher Camping Barn is in the lower gardens, near the swimming pool. It is accessed via a long flight of steps and is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties. It has a double bed and a set of bunk beds, with a tea/coffee station, mini fridge, table and chairs and a veranda area with more seating and table.
Mulberry Cottage (available from January 2020) has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a set of bunks, with a shared bathroom and kitchen and a large lounge and dining room.
Unfortunately due to previous experience we do not accept all male groups.
Jungle Tide is a staffed bungalow. Our housekeepers, Martin and Rani, live on site in their own separate quarters and will keep everything spotless. They will also do your laundry, manage the pool and gardens, wash up and generally deal with everything, all included in your price – so you can relax! They can also arrange local transport for you if required. If you prefer not to self-cater they will cook meals for you for an additional price per person – see below for rates.
We are active on several house exchange sites and often exchange a week or more at Jungle Tide for places we want to go to, especially in the UK or for “points”. If you are interested in a house exchange please contact us. House-swappers also receive preferential rates if we cannot agree an exchange but they still want to come as paying guests, either for the whole house or just one or two rooms.

Rs30,000/- is payable when you book your stay, at least 14 days in advance of arrival. It is repayable no later than 14 days after your departure date if your group has complied with the main requirements, which are:
Respect for our staff
Jungle Tide is their home and they need time off and to be treated at all times with respect. If our staff report behaviour which we consider to be exploitative or inappropriate your entire security deposit will be forfeited.
Reasonable care not to damage our property.
Of course we expect occasional breakages but if our staff report that damage was caused either deliberately or by negligence on the part of anyone in your group, including children, replacement costs will be deducted from your security deposit. (For example we have had instances of beds being broken by children jumping on them unsupervised by the parents.)
If you want to bring pets please discuss this with us before hand as we have 2 (friendly to humans) dogs. So we need to decide if your pet will be safe/happy in our home. You will not be required to look after our dogs! They do sleep in the house but are not allowed in bedrooms or on furniture. Both are very docile and child-friendly and they will also accompany you on walks if you wish.
